SPLOST II (Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax)
Your tax dollars at work for our children's future
SPLOST is a countywide, one-cent tax on all consumer goods that must be approved by voters in a referendum and is in effect for five years. The first SPLOST for Marietta City and Cobb County schools was approved in the fall of 1998 and was in effect from January 1, 1999 to December 31, 2003.
On September 13, 2003, voters in the City of Marietta and throughout Cobb County overwhelming supported the SPLOST renewal, passing the measure with a nearly 80 percent approval rating. The SPLOST II term runs from January 1, 2004 through December 31, 2008
Marietta City Schools is committed to keeping the public informed about how these tax funds are being spent. We hope you will check these pages frequently for updated information.
