Dr. Emily Lembeck presented the State of the School System Report to community and civic leaders gathered at the Kiwanis Club of Marietta meeting on Jan. 21, 2010 at the Marietta Conference Center.
Superintendent Welcomes Employees, Aug. 6, 2009
Dr. Emily Lembeck welcomed back school system employees during the annual “Welcome Back” kick-off at Marietta Middle School. The event included the Marietta Schools Foundation Years of Service pin ceremony honoring employees with 10 and 20-years of service to the school district, a special video titled “Classroom Technology” and guest speaker David Warlick’s keynote presentation “Redefining Literacy for the 21st Century.” The event concluded with an old-fashioned ice cream social.

This year’s employee Welcome Back event also served as the 3rd Annual Marietta City Schools Ed-Tech Conference and was attended by over 600 employees.
The event was made possible thanks to the generosity and support of education partners: Lockheed-Martin Aeronautics Company, Credit Union of Georgia, Ed Voyles Automotive Group and the Marietta Schools Foundation.

Second Annual MCS Ed-Tech Conference, Jan. 10, 2009
Teaching for Tomorrow: New Visions for Teaching and Learning
Over 150 Marietta City Schools (MCS) teachers and school administrators, and invited Marietta and Cobb County area government, civic, and business leaders including Cobb Chairman Sam Olens and Marietta City Councilman, Phillip Goldstein gathered Saturday, Jan. 10, from 8 a.m. – 12 noon for the 2nd Annual MCS Ed-Tech Conference: Teaching for Tomorrow: New Visions for Teaching and Learning.
Ian Jukes, the Director of the InfoSavvy Group, an international consulting group and the co-author of two recently published books, “Windows on the Future”, and “Net.Savvy: Building Information Literacy for the Classroom,” was the conference keynote speaker.
Ian Jukes, MCS Educators, and representatives from Kennesaw State University’s Continuing Education Center led a series of breakout sessions in the areas of Communication Literacy for an Information Age, Podcasting, Blogging, and Online Teacher Classrooms.
“The focus of the conference is to provide teachers and school leaders with an expanded vision of the future, and an understanding of how technology is reshaping education and the way we prepare tomorrow’s leaders in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and related fields,” said MCS Superintendent Dr. Emily Lembeck. “Hence, the theme of the conference, and keynoter presentation: “Teaching for Tomorrow: New Visions for Teaching and Learning.”
