Discussion Agenda
In a vote of 5:2, the board approved the Superintendent's recommendation of the Student Reassignment Plan for the 2010-2011 school year. This plan addresses issues of under and over enrollment at West Side and Sawyer Road Elementary. The plan limits choice growth at West Side and ensures that functional building capacity is not exceeded.

The board approved in a vote of 7:0, the Superintendent's recommendation of the Bid for Asphalt Work at Hickory Hills. The board also approved, in a vote of 7:0, the Superintendent's recommendation to elect ING Reliastar as the provider of board paid life insurance and Fort Dearborn as the provider of employer-paid Long Term Disability insurance coverage as part of the district's employee benefits offering.

Every year the school board reviews employee benefits providers for a number of services including legal, vision care and life insurance. As a non-member of the Federal Social Security program, Marietta City Schools is one of the few metro area school districts that provide board paid life insurance, disability, and a tax-sheltered annuity for all employees working 25 or more hours per week.

In other business, the board also approved, in a vote of 6:0:1, a motion directing the board attorney to draft the Superintendent's contract extension through December 2012 for the Board to consider in December 2009. The Superintendent's contract states that "Prior to November 1 of each year the Board shall indicate its desire to extend the term of the Superintendent's contract."
