Dear MCS Parents/guardians:

Marietta City Schools (MCS) parents/guardians will soon have access to a new program to view their child's grades and attendance. Aspen, the new MCS student information system provides a parent support feature: "Aspen Family Portal" that replaces i-Parent, the former grades and attendance program for parents.

Our teachers have received training on Aspen's electronic grade book feature, and are entering grades in the new system so parents/guardians will be able to view assignments, grades and attendance.

As with any new software implementation there are requirements that need to be met before the product is fully functional. Among these are security and data compliance that we require prior to final production rollout. Our goal, first and foremost is to ensure a safe, secure data environment for our student information, and we are nearing completion of this implementation phase.

We are very excited about our new Aspen student information system. In the interim, we recommend that parents/guardians familiarize themselves with the Aspen Family Portal by visiting our Web site and downloading the "Using the Aspen Family Portal" manual.

Thank you for your patience as we work to complete the implementation phase. More details will be sent home soon regarding the Aspen Family Portal, including information about username and password to access the portal. In the meantime, if you have any concerns regarding your child’s grades, feel free to contact your child’s school or teacher for further assistance.

Sincerely,

Dr. Emily Lembeck
