ENERGY CONSERVATION - SUMMER HOURS AT
MOST DISTRICT FACILITIES & CENTRAL OFFICE
System moves to four-day week starting June 5, closed Fridays
Marietta, GA - Marietta City Schools (MCS) moves to a summer schedule four-day week
beginning June 5, with most facilities closing one day per week Fridays: June 5, 12, 19, 26 and
July 10 and 17. MCS will close Friday, July 3 in observance of the Independence Day holiday.
“The schedule change this year affects all system locations except Marietta High School
and Marietta Middle School, where summer school and summer camp programs operate,” said
Dr. Emily Lembeck, MCS Superintendent.
All other MCS school locations are open Monday through Thursday by appointment only
and for general deliveries. The central administrative offices, including the Department of
Special Services, Transportation and Food Service also follow the four-day week schedule.
Regular operation hours at these locations are 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
The school district resumes a regular five-day week on Monday, July 20.
“For the past few years we have observed a four-day week energy conservation schedule
during the summer,” added Lembeck. “District 12-month employees work a 40-hour week, but
we use an expanded workday schedule during the summer four-day week.”
