Samija, also places in Resume writing contest
Marietta, GA - Marietta High School (MHS) senior, Katarina Samija, was among the students
selected to attend the 2010 High School Honors Luncheon hosted by The Georgia Society of
CPAs. The luncheon honored outstanding college bound, high school juniors and seniors with
3.0 GPAs or better, and a demonstrated interest in business. Samija received a certificate of
achievement from The Georgia Society of CPAs during the luncheon ceremony, and she won
$50 cash for placing third in the Society’s resume writing contest.
"This honors luncheon is a great opportunity for students to learn about career
opportunities available in the accounting profession," said Dr. Tim Brown, MHS Career,
Technical, and Agriculture Education Director/Assistant Principal.
MHS accounting instructor, Cheryl Wilson who attended the event said, "The honors
luncheon also provides information about The Georgia Society of CPAs and the numerous
educational resources available to high school educators."
Samija plans to attend the University of Georgia and major in accounting upon
graduation from Marietta High School this May.
Newsweek's 2009 list of America's Top Public High Schools named Marietta High
School one of the best high schools in the nation, ranking it among the Top 4% (868 out of the
Top 1500) of all high schools in America for the fourth year in a row.
