Two Marietta High School
Students Win Video Award
Bly and Clark, Marietta 175th Anniversary project

Marietta, GA - Two Marietta High School students, Cody Bly and Truitt Clark, were recently recognized by The Cobb Landmarks and Historical Society for their work on a video project for Marietta’s 175th Anniversary. The award presented to the students and MHS Faculty members Brandon Andrews and Kristin Saxon, at the Cobb Landmarks and Historical Society Annual Meeting held Jan. 28, 2010, recognizes community members who have demonstrated “an outstanding contribution to the preservation of Cobb County’s heritage.”

“Cody and Truitt worked this past year with Dr. Tom Scott, a professor at Kennesaw State University. They recorded a series of oral histories of Marietta City leaders, including interviews with MCS educators Dr. Tim Brown and his father, Reid Brown, MHS Principal Leigh Colburn, Daphne Delk, and Louis and Josetta Walker,” said Brandon Andrews, MHS Broadcast Video Production Instructor.

Asked about their project experiences, Clark said, “I enjoyed filming interviews for the Marietta 175th Project because I got to meet many people who influenced the history of Marietta, and I learned so much about the city's rich past.” Bly added, “It was a rewarding experience, and I'm glad that I was able to give back to my community through these videos.”

“Working with Dr. Scott on these oral histories was a fantastic experience for these two students, not only to work on a production such as this, but also to hear first-hand the many stories told by Marietta's greats,” stated Andrews.
