National School Social Work Week, Feb. 28 - Mar. 6
2010 Theme: Social Workers Inspire Community Action
Marietta, GA - Marietta City Schools (MCS) celebrates National School Social Work Week,
February 28 – March 6, and salutes school social workers Kristin Hanfland, Adrienne McGahee-
Jackson, Milena Skollar, and Valarie Stinson. This year’s theme highlights the expertise and
dedication of professional social workers in helping to improve community life.
“Our school social workers are a vital link between the school and home, and work to
promote the academic success of all students,” states Preston Howard, MCS Assistant
Superintendent for Operations and Policy.
MCS school social workers form integral community partnerships that help empower
students and their families. “These connections strengthen families and help students flourish in
their homes, their community, and at school,” said Kristin Hanfland, School Social Worker.
