Marietta City Schools Student Athletes
Compete Special Olympic Games – April 29
Games sanctioned by Special Olympics GA/Cobb

Marietta, GA - Marietta City Schools (MCS) student athletes from Marietta High School (MHS), Marietta Middle School, Dunleith, Hickory Hills, and Westside Elementary, under the guidance of Special Olympics GA/Cobb, will compete Friday, April 29 at the MCS Special Olympic Games at Marietta High School. The Opening Ceremony, including the parade of athletes and torch lighting, begins at 9:45 a.m. and the Closing Ceremony starts at 12:30 p.m.

MCS Special Olympics will feature standing and running long jumps, softball throw, 50-meter walk, 50-meter race, wheelchair race, and bocce. Admission is free. Drinks and snacks will be available for purchase with proceeds benefiting Special Olympics.

Special Olympics are a year-round program for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. It offers 15 different sports opportunities that include track and field events, basketball, bowling, golf, swimming, tennis, volleyball, equestrian, table tennis, and gymnastics, ice-skating, roller-skating, alpine skiing, bocce and power lifting.
