District, Education Partners Host STEM
Program Engineering Design Expo, April 29

Marietta, GA - Marietta City Schools (MCS) and the Cobb Education Consortium host the MCS Engineering Design Expo, Sunday, April 29, 2012, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Southern Polytechnic State University gymnasium facility. The complimentary event features elementary (grades 3 – 5) and middle grades (6 – 8), science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) magnet student digital research projects and engineering design challenges.

"Today, more than ever, there is a growing demand for more STEM education initiatives. Lockheed Martin Aeronautics and Marietta City Schools are united in our commitment to providing STEM-focused programs that educate and inspire students ─ inside and outside of the classroom," said Shan Cooper, general manager and vice president, Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company.

"We understand the significance of forming partnerships that enable education institutions to work with members of the community to increase STEM learning opportunities and program offerings to students," said Dr. Emily Lembeck, MCS Superintendent. "The support offered by Lockheed Martin Aeronautics, the Credit Union of Georgia, American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), Tech Matters, the Cobb Education Consortium and its institutions: Kennesaw State University, Southern Polytechnic State University, Georgia Highlands College, Chattahoochee Technical College and Cobb County Schools, as well as the many businesses supporting this event are invaluable."
