Energy Conservation – Summer Hours
Marietta Schools, Facilities & Central Office
Four-day week starting June 4, closed Fridays
Marietta, GA - Marietta City Schools (MCS) moves to its summer schedule four-day work week beginning June 4, 2012, with most facilities closing one day per week Fridays: June 8, 15, 22, 29, and July 13 and 20. All MCS facilities and schools will close Wednesday, July 4 in observance of the Independence Day holiday. All MCS facilities return to a regular five-day workweek Monday, July 23, 2012.
"The school district observes a four-day work week energy conservation schedule during the summer," said Dr. Emily Lembeck, MCS Superintendent. "Our 12-month employees continue to work 40-hours per week by extending each workday to 10 hours (Monday – Thursday) during the summer four-day work week."
The four-day workweek schedule change affects all system locations except Marietta High School, where summer school programs operate Monday to Friday and Marietta Sixth Grade Academy where summer CAMPS programs operate Monday to Friday. All other MCS school locations are open Monday through Thursday by appointment only and for general deliveries. The central administrative offices, including the Department of Special Services, Transportation and Food Service also follow the four-day workweek schedule.
The Marietta Performance Learning Center operates Sum-Mester 2012 from June 4 to June 21, Monday to Thursday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
