Mickelson ExxonMobil Teachers Academy
Johnson, among 200 teachers selected nationwide
MARIETTA, GA -– Marietta Center for Advanced Academics (MCAA) third-grade teacher, Stormi Johnson is one of only 200 third- through fifth-grade teachers selected by the National Council of Teachers in Mathematics (NCTM) and the National Science Teachers Association (NSTA) to attend the 2013 Mickelson ExxonMobil Teachers Academy at Liberty Science Center in Jersey City, N.J.
“In the last few years, at least one or more of our teachers participate in this excellent professional learning opportunity,” states Dr. Emily Lembeck, MCS Superintendent. “Stormi Johnson is an excellent educator and she is deserving of this unique and challenging summer learning experience.”
At the Academy, Johnson will join with other exceptional math and science teachers from across the nation to learn innovative ways to capture and inspire students in math and science, and build expertise in facilitating student learning through problem solving and inquiry.
The Mickelson ExxonMobil Teachers Academy is a one-week all-expense-paid intensive professional development program for third- through fifth-grade teachers. The Academy offers a five-day program designed to provide teachers with the knowledge and skills necessary to motivate students to pursue careers in science and math.
