Employees Inaugurate New MHS Auditorium
District Kicks Off Graduate Marietta Campaign
Ceremonial Auditorium Ribbon-cutting at Marietta High School, Aug. 5
MARIETTA, GA -– Marietta City Schools (MCS) employees will have their first look at Marietta High School’s new Performing Arts Auditorium when they gather to inaugurate the facility during the annual Superintendent’s Welcome Back event Monday, August 5. A ceremonial ribbon cutting will take place at 7:45 a.m. The school system will also kick off the new Graduate Marietta campaign and Marietta Mayor Steve Tumlin will present the school system with a proclamation during the program that features guest speaker Shan Cooper, Vice President Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company.
“This will be the first time employees officially gather at the new auditorium as we welcome them back prior to beginning the new school year,” said Dr. Emily Lembeck, MCS Superintendent. “The focus on increasing our graduation rate will be supported by the Graduate Marietta campaign district-wide with the help of our teachers, staff, and parents, and communitywide with the help of our business, civic, and education partners.”
“The start of the school year is always an exciting time, and there is quite a bit of buzz around the completion of the auditorium at Marietta High School and how this new space will benefit the school district at large, and the Marietta community. While we are opening the doors to the facility on Monday for employees, a formal grand opening event for the public is in the works for September 7,” added Lembeck.
