Marietta High School Air Force Junior ROTC Cadets
Named “Powerhouse” Unit – Reap Top School Awards
MHS JROTC Cadets capture 15 “Top Leadership Awards”

MARIETTA, GA -Marietta High School (MHS) Air Force Junior ROTC (AFJROTC) Unit GA-20021 Cadet Juanita Londono recently earned the Distinguished Cadet Award, the highest award presented at the Summer Leadership School at Converse College. MHS AFJROTC cadets captured 15 awards at the 2013 Summer Leadership School. Of the 28 MHS cadets attending, 12 received top awards.

“The cadets from Marietta High School have proven themselves to be a Powerhouse here at the Converse College Summer Leadership School,” said Colonel James Dowis, Converse College ROTC Commandant.

“MHS cadets competed against 279 cadets representing 24 schools from North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia,” said Lt. Col. James T. Wilson, MHS Senior Aerospace Science Instructor. “The performance by our JROTC cadets was outstanding.”

“To earn honor graduate status, a cadet must rank in the top ten percent of all the cadets at the leadership school,” added Lt. Col. Wilson.
