SIXTH GRADE ACADEMY STUDENTS TO ATTEND
PEOPLE TO PEOPLE WORLD LEADERSHIP FORUM
Eckford, Sheram selection based on outstanding scholastic merit
Marietta, GA - Marietta Sixth Grade Academy (MSGA) students, Alexandra Eckford and Zach Sheram have been selected to attend the People to People World Leadership Forum in Washington, DC from Sept. 8 – 14, 2008. Eckford and Sheram earned the selection based on outstanding scholastic merit, civic involvement and leadership potential.
The People to People World Leadership Forum will provide Eckford and Sheram an opportunity to examine the characteristics of American leadership during times of national challenge and prosperity. As Forum delegates, they will earn high school credit while studying leadership, and will participate in small-group discussions and exercises to experience first-hand how successful leaders develop strategies, make decisions, build consensus, and foster change.
““People to People World Forums are an excellent opportunity for Alex and Zach to build valuable leadership skills for the future,” said MSGA teacher Suzannah Siegel-Kolbeck.
“They were selected based on their demonstrated ability as well as their untapped potential as future leaders.”
Coordinated by People to People Student Leader Programs, The People to People World Leadership Forum program fulfills the vision President Dwight D. Eisenhower had for fostering world citizenship when he founded People to People during his presidency in 1956.
