Marietta Reads! Celebrated Its 13th Year Anniversary Kick-Off, October 31

Marietta Reads!, the Marietta City Schools (MCS) citywide effort to foster reading and literacy in the community, celebrated its 13th year anniversary October 31st at Glover Park in the Marietta Square. This year’s theme was “Full STEAM Toward Your Dreams,” which tied the connection of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics (STEAM) to the importance of reading.  The event offered a variety of literacy activities, a book fair, book costume characters, and family friendly entertainment including school drama and dance performances. Guest appearances by Marietta Mayor Steve Tumlin; Marietta Reads! mascot Mari-Etta; Zaxby’s mascot Little Zach, and Clifford the Big Red Dog.  The culminating moment was the unveiling of the One Book for this year, “How to Be Like Walt.”  A great time was had by one and all!
