Introduction

  • The Choice Academies program in Marietta City Schools provides parents and guardians an opportunity to choose, within a clearly defined window of eligibility, the elementary school best suited to their child’s talents and needs. Space must be available at the school and within the grade level requested before a Choice application is eligible for approval.

    The application window for the Marietta City Schools (MCS) elementary Choice Academies program will open November 1st and will close November 30th. Interested Marietta City residents seeking to apply for Choice Academies must submit their completed application no later than November 30th. Notification of acceptance is the Friday before Winter Break. 

    All Marietta City elementary Choice Academies offer school tours by appointment. To arrange a school tour, please contact the school directly. Choice Academies FAQ's

  • The Choice Academies Application window opens November 1st and closes November 30th. 

    Vision: The vision of Marietta City Schools is to help all students to learn to their fullest potential.

    Who should apply?

    Only those parents/guardians wishing to choice their child from their current zoned school to a Marietta City Choice Academy need apply. If you do not want to choice your child from his/her current zoned school then you do not need to apply. If you are currently enrolled in a school as a result of a choice placement, you do not need to submit a choice application.

    Is a Choice Academy application required for siblings?

    Yes, if you wish to choice a sibling from their current zoned school to a Marietta City Choice Academy, a choice application is required.

    How do I apply?

    The application link is located on the Student Registration page. 

    If you are a current resident of the Marietta City school district, and your child is not currently enrolled at an MCS school, the application must be submitted by November 30th. 

    In addition, you must register your student for MCS through Registration Gateway AFTER JANUARY 15th.

    When will I know a decision regarding my school choice preference?

    You will be notified the Friday before Winter Break. 

    What if I move into the district after the Choice Academy application period?

    The application period for the Choice Academies Program happens once a year. If you move into the district after the application period ends, you must wait to apply until the new application period is announced.  

    Can I Choice more than once during the school year?

    Placement into a Choice Academy can only occur once during a school year. Students are required to remain enrolled at the Choice Academy for the entire school year.

    What happens if I am not selected for either my 1st or 2nd choice?

    Because of the limited number of spaces available at each school, and within each grade level, we cannot guarantee that everyone will receive the requested 1st or 2nd choice. If you do not receive your 1st or 2nd choice, you will attend your zoned school for the current year and may apply for the Choice Academies Program again next school year.
