The mission of the Media Center is to support the curriculum of the school. Our Media Center contains approximately 17,000 items of age-appropriate material to fulfill this mission.
Instruction is provided on basic library and information skills, as well as Internet Safety. Technology is integrated into lessons whenever applicable, and practice is achieved through projects assigned by the classroom teachers.
The media center is open for students from 8:00am until 3:00pm each day. Hours may change during the Scholastic Book Fair in September and February.
Students may borrow library materials for one week at a time and may renew items if no one has placed the item on hold. We do not charge overdue fines; however, any items that is lost or damaged must be paid for before borrowing privileges are resumed.
All library functions are fully automated. Students use the automated catalog to locate materials in the library. The catalog is available on any internet-connected computer at school or home. Destiny Discover is also available on mobile devices! Simply type in destinydiscover.com, select "georgia" and then type in our school name! Guests may browse the catalog, and students can log in with their username and password to read ebooks, place holds, and create their own collections.
We participate in the Accelerated Reader program, which was designed to encourage students to read at the appropriate reading level. Books that are too easy do not encourage growth; books that are too difficult can cause frustration. The most productive, "just right," level is in between: both pleasurable and challenging.
