The Office of Student Learning and Teaching at Marietta City Schools provides leadership and support for teaching and learning in grades K-12, as well as the supervision and professional development of local school faculty and administration.The department led by Jill Sims, Executive Director of Academic Programs (IB, ESOL, EIP, Gifted, REM), is organized into Three areas: K-12 Curriculum and Instruction, State and Federal Programs, and Assessment. Together the departmental team ensures effective and efficient K-12 curricular and instructional support in accordance with local and state school board policies and procedures.The Office of Student Learning and Teaching is committed to providing an instructional program that supports academic achievement for all students in the Marietta City Schools community.

Georgia Milestones Study Guides and Resources
The Georgia Milestones Assessment System (Georgia Milestones) is a comprehensive summative assessment program spanning grades 3 through high school. Georgia Milestones End-of Grade (EOG) study guides and End-of-Course (EOC) study guides are available for teachers and families to help prepare students for the Georgia Milestones assessments.

Georgia Announces New Four-year High School Graduation Rate
The Georgia State Department of Education (GADOE) has announced the new four-year high school graduation rate. Adhering to a 2008 update to federal education regulations, the Georgia Department of Education today released the new, four-year public high school graduation rate -- 67.4%. The new calculation, known as the adjusted cohort rate, will allow states to uniformly compare graduation rates across the nation. More»

Georgia Standards of Excellence and Georgia Performance Standards
On February 19, 2015, the State Board of Education (SBOE) voted to rename the ELA and Mathematics standards to the Georgia Standards of Excellence (GSE). The revised and SBOE approved ELA and Mathematics standards are called the ELA and Mathematics Georgia Standards of Excellence (GSE).
The current Georgia Performance Standards (GPS) for Science and for Social Studies will be taught during the 2016-17 school year. The Georgia Standards of Excellence (GSE) for Science and for Social Studies will be implemented beginning the 2017-18 school year.
