    Hello and thanks for visiting!

    My name is Dr. Margaret Burgess Wright and I am a full-time school counselor here at Sawyer Road. As a counselor at an International Baccalaureate school, I strive to address the academic, social, and career needs of every child via student-centered activities such as music, literature, and art.

    Our Mission

    The Mission of the Marietta City Schools Guidance and Counseling Department is to provide the academic and social support services necessary to promote student success.

    We Believe:

    • All students have a right to a safe and nurturing environment that fosters academic, career, and personal/social growth.
    • All students have the right to a comprehensive standards-based education.
    • All students have the right to individual, large, and small group counseling that is designed to aid in closing the achievement gap by supporting the academic, career and personal/social development of all learners.
    • All students have the right to integrated technology in the counseling program to enhance the instructional program and prepare the students for a global economy.
    • All students have the right to a student-oriented environment built on integrity, respect, and excellence.
    • All students have the right to counselors who are committed to life-long learning by participating in on-going professional learning activities to improve the counseling program.
    • All students have the right to a counseling program that is designed and implemented to support family, school, and community partnerships.
