The Board of Education of the City of Marietta, at their March 20, 2018 meeting, approved calendars for the 2018-2019 and 2019-2020 school years.
Modifications were approved by the Board of Education in order to increase instructional time during spring semesters - spring conferences are now only two days (rather than five, as previously scheduled; see calendar for specific dates). Additionally, winter break was increased by one day (last day of fall semester - December 20, 2018). The calendars below reflect these changes.
Due to inclement weather experienced this school year, the Board of Education voted at their January 26th, 2018 called meeting to revise the district's calendar to reflect Monday, March 12, 2018 as a regular school day. This date was previously a teacher work day.
The Board of Education of the City of Marietta, at their December 19, 2017 meeting, approved district calendars for the 2018-2019 and 2019-2020 school years. The calendars closely align with other area school systems and were approved in a vote of 7:0.
The first day of school in 2018 will be August 2. Students will begin school in 2019 on August 1.
During the October Work Session, the Board of Education approved three calendar options that were presented to stakeholders for feedback. Surveys were distributed to staff and MCS families; survey results were then provided to each School Governance Team (SGT) in order to make a recommendation to the Superintendent.
