Facilities Design and Construction (FD&C) services focus on the design and management of construction, remodeling and renovation projects for all of Marietta City Schools' educational and support facilities.
We are committed to the design and construction of safe, sustainable and energy efficient facilities that enrich the creative learning and teaching environment for our students and staff!

College and Career Academy Project - Phase I (in progress)
This project is Phase I of II in the construction transformation of Marietta High School: A Georgia College and Career Academy. This new addition is built on a flexible and adaptable construction design allowing for feasible improvements and modifications to the layout of the building.
- Groundbreaking: July 26th, 2018

- Approximately 50,000 square feet (Tri-Level)
New learning spaces include:
- Engineering, Drawing, and Design Laboratory

- STEM Gym and combined Construction Tech and Engineering Tech labs offering approximately 4,000 sq. ft. of production space

College & Career Academy Project - Phase II (coming late 2019)
This project is Phase I of II in the construction transformation of Marietta High School: A Georgia College and Career Academy. This project includes a repurpose of selected existing space in the main building to create additional learning labs for college and career advancement.
- Work timeline: January 2020
- Hard Opening Target: August 2020
- Approximately 32,000 square feet
New learning spaces include:
- Healthcare Laboratory
- Sports Medicine
- Emergency Services
- Nursing
- Two additional classrooms
- Biotechnology Laboratory
- Audio-Visual Technology Film Studio
- Early Childhood Learning Laboratory
- Information Technology Laboratory
- Culinary Arts Laboratory: expansion of current kitchen to include an additional prep kitchen and dining room

Park Street Replacement Elementary School
Park Street Elementary School opened in 1942. With approval of the voters on the E-SPLOST V referendum, the current Park Street Elementary will be replaced with a new contemporary school building that honors the rich heritage and traditions of the Park Street Community.

A.L. Burruss Elementary School Renovation Project
Start Date: March 27, 2017
Completion: July 25, 2017
Key Project Highlights- New roof (replacement)
- New carpet in classrooms, media center, and offices
- New HVAC units in each classroom
- New paint throughout
- New ceilings throughout
- New countertops and sinks in classrooms
- New LED lighting throughout (interior/exterior)
- New serving line in cafeteria
- New emergency generator
- Electrical upgrade in Kitchen
- New fire alarm system
- New LVT flooring in corridors and cafeteria
- New intercom system (telephone)
- New ceramic tile in restrooms
- New door hardware (key system)
- Automated controls (fixtures) in large restrooms
- New water heaters throughout
- New water coolers with bottle fillers
- All HVAC and lighting will be connected to an energy management system
- Front entrance and corridor will be modified to create a security vestibule for visitor control
- A new canopy will be added to the front of the school providing a clear gateway to the main door, shelter from inclement weather, additional activity space, and building aesthetics.
Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP): $4,224,238.35
Total Reimbursement: $1,356,683.00
Projected Cost: $2,867,555.35

Synthetic Turf Field Project
This project installs synthetic turf at the "Soccer-Lacrosse Stadium" at Marietta High School. This multi-use field will host Soccer and Lacrosse games and is lined for football games as well as band competitions.
- Work timeline: October 2018
- Completion Target: January 1st, 2019

Gymnasium Floor Installation
This project installed hardwood maple floors in the gymnasiums of Hickory Hills Elementary, West Side Elementary, and Marietta Center for Advanced Academics. These gyms previously had carpeted floors; installing the hardwood floors at these schools meets the districts specification and continues the tradition and pride of all schools. All Work was during and completed during the month of November.

MSGA Roof Replacement
This project includes the replacement of approximately 100,000 square feet of roof on the Marietta Sixth Grade Academy main building.
