• Transportation Bus Stop Procedures for Students 8 and Under

Students who are 8 years and younger should have a responsible person (13 and older) meet them at their afternoon bus stop. Students who are 8 years and younger and do not have such a person meeting them at the bus stop will be returned to:

    MCS Satellite Drop-Off
    Park Street Elementary School
    105 Park Street SE
    Marietta, GA 30060
    Phone: 470-328-4139

Parents can pick their child(ren) up at the exterior cafeteria doors in the back of the building. Charges are $10 per day.

If a student who is 8 years and younger is repeatedly returned to Park Street, please note the updated consequences:

    • The second time over the course of a semester that a student is returned to Park Street, the school counselor or an administrator will make contact with the family to identify any barriers to being at home or at the bus stop to meet their child(ren).
    • The third time over the course of a semester that a student is returned to Park Street, the school counselor or an administrator will make contact with the family to identify any barriers to being at home or at the bus stop to meet their child(ren) and will let the parent know that a fourth event over the course of the semester will result in a referral to the school social worker.
    • The fourth time over the course of a semester that a student is returned to Park Street, a referral will be made to the school social worker. School staff do not need to wait until the fourth event to make a referral to the social worker if concerns warrant intervention earlier.

The school social worker will work with the school and the family to determine supports and interventions necessary to ensure that someone aged 13 or older is able to meet the bus at dismissal. This may include a DFCS referral.

It is important that parents/guardians are aware of their child’s bus stop information, including where and when students are dropped off by the bus in the afternoon. It is the responsibility of the parent or guardian to ensure the student is appropriately supervised before a child is dropped off at his/her bus stop. Failure to do so can result in the filing of a report based upon Division of Family and Children Service (DFCS) guidelines.
