External Affairs
Department of External Affairs
The Department of External Affairs creates district and community impact through partnerships, programs, and philanthropy. Our goal is to enrich the learning experiences of our students and support our staff in their work.
Sponsors and Partners provide Marietta City Schools with volunteers, equipment, supplies, in-kind services, and cash donations. By augmenting public dollars, we are able to enhance resources and programs, better allowing our principals to meet unexpected needs and support initiatives as they arise.
Ways to Get Involved
Sponsors
Sponsorships exist for many district-wide activities and initiatives. Events include New Teacher Orientation, the Back-to-School Kickoff, Blue Devil FanFest, Marietta Reads!, Employee Awards Banquet, and Retirement Luncheon, as well as employee socials. Programs include REACH Scholars, Lunch Angels, the Student Life Center, and more.
Sponsorship levels vary by event, but can include everything from hosting a table to inclusion of a company's name and logo on invitations and displays. Sponsorships generally start at $500.
Partners
Partnerships allow local businesses to engage with a specific Marietta City School or the district as a whole. Needs vary by school, and include everything from technology purchases, to field trip funding, to student incentives, to staffing for special events.
Our schools always appreciate it when partners choose to provide food and beverages for deserving students and staff, such as buying boxed lunches, providing coffee and donuts for conference week, or even stocking a faculty breakroom.
DonorsChoose
DonorsChoose is a nonprofit that uses crowdfunding to provide additional classroom resources. Teachers use this platform to request the exact materials or experiences they’re looking for, and donors from across the country give to those projects. To see a full list of active Marietta City Schools projects, please visit the MCS DonorsChoose webpage.
Partners in Education
Partners in Education (PIE) is sponsored by the Cobb Chamber of Commerce, Marietta City Schools, and the Cobb County School District. The PIE Program is designed to establish a voluntary relationship between a business/organization and a school in order to:
- Support and enrich the education of students;
- Encourage and support school faculty and staff;
- Promote community strength and identify needs; and
- Provide business employees and organization members the opportunity to identify the successes and needs of the public school system.
If you are interested in becoming a Marietta City Schools Partner In Education, please contact the Cobb Chamber of Commerce at (770) 859-2374.
