Rising Kindergarten Parent Information
Welcome to West Side! We are thrilled to become an important part of your child's social, emotional, and academic growth! We invite you to read Dr. Wagoner's welcome letter to all rising Kindergarten families, found at the bottom of this page.
Please mark your calendar with these important dates planned exclusively for our new Kindergarten students.
· Kindergarten Skills Check – Please sign your child up for a 20 minute skills check on Monday, July 22nd. Your child will work individually with one of our Kindergarten teachers to preview Kindergarten skills. This individual time will give our teachers an opportunity to learn your child before the year begins. Parents/Guardians should plan to stay for the duration of your child’s appointment time. If your child is unable to attend one of the appointment times on July 22nd his/her teacher will complete the Kindergarten Skills Check during the first week of school. Please reserve your child’s appointment time by July 8th at the following link – Kindergarten Skills Check
· KinderCamp – KinderCamp is a half-day event for children to meet new friends, experience a typical day, and overcome first day jitters. KinderCamp is scheduled for Tuesday, July 23rd from 8:00 AM-12:00 PM. This is a drop-off event – parents do not on campus during KinderCamp. Please register your child for KinderCamp by July 8th at the following link – KinderCamp Registration
· Popsicles on the Playground – Please join our PTA for Popsicles on the Playground. This is an opportunity for you and your child to meet other rising Kindergarten families and students. No RSVP is required.
· Kindergarten Parent Night – Kindergarten teachers, school administration, and PTA will offer an evening for parents to learn important information that will get you acquainted with school/classroom procedures. You will also have the opportunity to preview sign-ups and PTA booths that will be available to all families at Sneak-a-Peek on Wednesday, July 31st. This event is for parents/guardians. Please plan to attend on Tuesday, July 30th from 6:00 PM-7:30 PM.
Please take this opportunity to review your students School Bus Route for the upcoming 2019-2020 school year. If you don’t see a bus stop for your student to safely access please fill out a bus stop appeal form. Friday, July 12, 2019 will be the cutoff date this summer to submit a bus stop appeal form in order for the stop to be considered before the first two weeks of school are completed. If you submit a bus stop appeal after that date then you will need to be prepared to transport your student or take them to the closest bus stop for the first two weeks of school while your bus stop appeal form can be reviewed. Please take this opportunity now to review your route for next school year so that your student’s transportation is set up and ready to go on the first day of school.
