Board of Education begins new term, welcomes three new members

MARIETTA, GA — Marietta City Schools officially launched a new term for the Board of Education during a swearing-in ceremony held Tuesday, January 13, at the Marietta Performing Arts Center. The ceremony took place during the Board’s Work Session and included the oath of office for all seven Board members—three newly elected members and four returning members.

New Board members Laura Holder (Ward Two), Jeff Collins (Ward Three), and Christina Rogers (Ward Six) were sworn in and formally began their service to the district, joined by family, friends, district staff, and community members.

Returning Board members Jeff DeJarnett (Ward One), Jaillene Hunter (Ward Four), Angela Orange (Ward Five), and Irene Berens (Ward Seven) were also sworn in and will continue serving in their current seats, bringing continuity and experienced leadership to the Board’s work.

The Marietta City Schools Board of Education is responsible for setting district policy, approving budgets, and providing strategic direction to support student learning and success.
