CCRPI scores show Marietta students among fastest growing in Georgia, Metro Atlanta

MARIETTA, GA— Marietta City Schools (MCS) saw significant gains across all levels and subjects in the latest College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI) scores. Elementary and high school students are leading metro Atlanta in the Progress category, which measures how our students grow compared to their peers. Our district surpassed several state and metro Atlanta averages and saw several schools set new records for overall performance.

"MCS has achieved the highest scores and the greatest gains since the implementation of CCRPI," said Superintendent Dr. Grant Rivera. "Our focus on helping every child reach their fullest reading and writing potential is key to the success we’ve seen this year, and we will continue to build on this progress to ensure every student in Marietta is equipped with the skills they need for a bright future.”

Understanding CCRPI:

CCRPI is Georgia's statewide accountability system that measures how well schools are preparing students for success in college and careers. It evaluates multiple aspects of school performance:

  • Content Mastery: Student achievement in core subjects through standardized testing.
  • Progress: Academic growth from year to year.
  • Closing Gaps: Efforts to reduce achievement gaps among different student groups.
  • Readiness: Preparedness for the next educational level.
  • Graduation Rate (High Schools): Percentage of students graduating within four or five years.

Key Highlights:

  • MCS v. Metro Atlanta and Georgia: Elementary and High schools lead metro Atlanta in Progress, ranking 13th and 22nd best in the state, respectively. In Closing Gaps, MCS elementary schools were one of five in Metro Atlanta to achieve a perfect score, and MCS middle schools were one of three to do so.
  • Record-High Scores in All CCRPI Components: MCS had schools in each category achieve their highest-ever scores in Content Mastery, Progress, Closing Gaps, and Readiness.
  • Perfect Scores: Every school achieved a perfect score in at least one category —Content Mastery, Progress, Closing Gaps, and Readiness Beyond the Core (Click here to see the breakdown of perfect scores)

Content Mastery:

MCS outperformed the state at all levels. Notably, Marietta Center for Advanced Academics (MCAA) and West Side Elementary School achieved perfect scores of 100 in English Language Arts (ELA) and Math. MCAA also earned a perfect score in Science. Middle grades more than doubled state improvements, and high school students significantly exceeded state gains.

Progress:

A.L. Burruss Elementary School received perfect scores across the board in Progress. Dunleith and Sawyer Road Elementary Schools received perfect scores in English Language Arts. Dunleith, Hickory Hills, and Lockheed Elementary Schools, along with Marietta High School, received perfect scores in Math.

Marietta High School also achieved a remarkable 12.2-point increase in Progress, more than triple the state's increase of 3.5 points.

  • Elementary Schools: Score increased from 93.2 to 96.5 (+3.3 points).
  • Middle Schools: Score increased from 79.2 to 80.1 (+0.9 points).
  • High School: Score increased from 84.1 to 96.3 (+12.2 points).

Closing Gaps:

MCS made improvements across all school levels. Elementary and middle levels all achieved perfect scores, while the high school significantly increased its score by 38.5 points to 97.9.

  • Elementary Schools: Score increased from 82.7 to 100 (+17.3 points).
  • Middle Schools: Score increased from 66.2 to 100 (+33.8 points).
  • High School: Score increased from 59.4 to 97.9 (+38.5 points).

Readiness:

MCS outpaced the state in Readiness with improvements across all school levels. The district's commitment to the science of reading led to increased student literacy levels, a key factor in improving our Readiness scores.

  • Elementary Schools: Score increased from 85.6 to 86.6 (+1 point), slightly outpacing the state's increase.
  • Middle Schools: Score increased from 82.4 to 83.5 (+1.1 points).
  • High School: Score increased from 68.5 to 71.2 (+2.7 points), surpassing the state's increase of 1.9 points.

Historic Graduation Rate:

The CCRPI calculates our graduation rate at 90.9% by incorporating both four-year and five-year graduation rate data. Marietta High School made history with a record-high four-year graduation rate of 91.4% for the 2024 cohort. This milestone marks the school's highest graduation rate since the state began using the adjusted cohort calculation in 2011.
