Johanne Gaddy Named Principal of Park Street Elementary

Johanne Gaddy Named Principal of Park Street Elementary

MARIETTA, Ga. — Marietta City Schools has named Johanne Gaddy the next principal of Park Street Elementary School, placing a veteran instructional leader and longtime elementary educator at the helm of one of the district's most diverse school communities.

Gaddy steps into the role from A.L. Burruss Elementary, where she currently serves as assistant principal. A former elementary school principal in New York, she brings more than a decade of experience leading literacy growth, strengthening school culture, and coaching teachers toward higher student outcomes.

"What I love about Johanne is that she's earned every step of this journey," said Superintendent Grant Rivera. "She chose to go back into the classroom when she came to Marietta, learned our curriculum and our kids from the inside out, and has been a steady, trusted leader at Burruss. I'm excited for Park Street families to get to know her."

A Long Island native, Gaddy joined Marietta City Schools after relocating to Georgia and deliberately returned to the classroom — teaching second grade at Hickory Hills Elementary — to immerse herself in the district's curriculum and the Science of Reading before moving back into school leadership. At Burruss, her portfolio has included teacher development, MTSS, ESOL, student discipline, and assessment coordination.

Gaddy said she is eager to build on Park Street's strong foundation and connect with families from day one.

"It sure is a great day to be a Blue Devil — and I am so excited to join the Park Street family," Gaddy said. "I feel incredibly fortunate to have this opportunity. Every child at Park Street deserves to feel seen, supported, and on a path to becoming a confident reader and lifelong learner. I can't wait to roll up my sleeves and get to work alongside our staff and families."
