MCS and United Way Re-Launch Free Preschool Program for Early Learners

MARIETTA, GA— Marietta City Schools (MCS), in partnership with the United Way of Greater Atlanta, is re-launching its free Learning Spaces program in Marietta. Designed to provide enriching early learning experiences for children under age five and their caregivers, the program offers age-appropriate play and exploration opportunities in non-traditional settings across the Marietta community.

As part of the district's ongoing commitment to early literacy and “building the reading brain,” Learning Spaces are designed to provide engaging social interaction for children and their families. Caregivers actively participate in each session, fostering meaningful connections and equipping them with tools to support their child’s development at home.

“Learning Spaces is a game-changer for early literacy in Marietta,” said Kim Blass, Chief Impact Officer of Marietta City Schools. “The goal here is simple: to reach even more families where they are and create accessible, supportive spaces for children to learn, play, and grow alongside their caregivers. We are so grateful to the United Way for helping us bring this opportunity to our community.”

The program is offered three days a week at three convenient Marietta locations, starting November 12:

  • YELLS (779 Franklin Gateway): Tuesdays, 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
  • GraceLife Church (1083 Allgood Road): Wednesdays, 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
  • 353 Lemon Street, Bldg C: Thursdays, 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Families are welcome to attend any session at any location, offering caregivers flexibility.

Caregivers can register for the program on-site at the beginning of each session. All sessions are free and open to newborns up to age five. Each session will be led by facilitators funded through the Literacy and Justice for All initiative and trained with the support of the Rollins Center for Language and Literacy at the Atlanta Speech School.

“This program embodies our district’s vision for a community that invests in its youngest learners,” Blass added. “Together with the United Way of Greater Atlanta, we are breaking down barriers to early education and helping provide families with the tools they need to thrive.”
