Marietta, GA — Marietta City Schools (MCS) continues to showcase significant achievements and growth in literacy across the district. Following the release of Milestones scores, the latest data highlights the district’s leadership in fostering educational excellence and student progress. MCS leads the Metro Atlanta area in High Growth for the Student Growth Model and ranks 18th in the state of Georgia. This model measures student progress from grade 3 to grade 4 in their ELA assessments, underscoring the effectiveness of MCS's literacy initiatives. Our rankings are specifically based on the percentage of students achieving "High Growth," as categorized by the Georgia Milestones Student Growth Percentile (SGP).

Marietta Center for Advanced Academics (MCAA):
- In Grade 3 ELA, MCAA ranked #2 in the state for the percentage of students scoring at the Proficient or Distinguished Learner Level and #3 for Reading at or Above Grade Level (Lexile).
- In Grade 4 ELA, MCAA ranked #3 in the state for the percentage of students scoring at the Proficient or Distinguished Learner Level and #4 for Reading at or Above Grade Level (Lexile).
West Side Elementary:
- In Grade 3 ELA, West Side ranked #3 in the state for the percentage of students scoring at the Proficient or Distinguished Learner Level and #6 for Reading at or Above Grade Level (Lexile).
Dunleith Elementary:
- Ranked as the 38th best school in ELA in Georgia, placing it in the top 3% of all schools in the state for 4th-grade student growth.
Hickory Hills Elementary:
- Fourth graders ranked in the top 20% of schools in reading proficiency, with 71% now reading at or above grade level. This marks a significant increase of 17% from last year.
High Achievers Across the District:
- Fourth graders in seven out of eight Marietta City Schools schools were ranked in the top 30% of all schools in the state, showcasing widespread excellence and consistent improvement in literacy, particularly in High Growth categories as defined by the Georgia Student Growth Percentile.
