Marietta High School Earns Five AP Honors School Distinctions

MARIETTA, Ga. – Marietta High School has been named an AP Honors School in five categories by the Georgia Department of Education, recognizing the school's commitment to expanding access to college-level coursework and student achievement.

The five distinctions are:

AP Access and Support: Recognizes schools where at least 30% of AP exams are taken by students who identified as African American and/or Hispanic, and where at least 30% of all AP exams earn scores of 3 or higher.

AP Humanities: Recognizes schools offering a breadth of AP coursework across English language arts, social studies, fine arts, and world languages, with a minimum of 25 total exams administered.

AP Humanities Achievement: Awarded to AP Humanities schools where at least 50% of AP Humanities exams earn scores of 3 or higher.

AP STEM: Recognizes schools where students are testing in at least four AP STEM courses, with a minimum of 25 exams administered.

AP STEM Achievement: Awarded to AP STEM schools where at least 50% of AP STEM exams earn scores of 3 or higher.

Deputy Superintendent Dr. Chuck Gardner credited the entire school community for the results. "These recognitions reflect the continued hard work of our students, teachers, school leaders, and families in expanding access to rigorous coursework while maintaining strong achievement levels," Gardner said.
