Marietta High School Hires Veteran Dance Teacher Eileen Edwards

Marietta High School Hires Veteran Dance Teacher Eileen Edwards

MARIETTA, Ga. — Marietta High School has hired Eileen Edwards, a 14-year member of the Cobb County Center for Excellence in the Performing Arts (CCCEPA) at Pebblebrook High School, to lead its dance program and support the musical theatre program.

Edwards has spent more than two decades teaching and choreographing across private studios, regional theaters, and public schools. Before joining CCCEPA in 2012, she spent 10 years at North Springs Charter School, the performing arts magnet program in Fulton County, where she choreographed musicals and one-act productions for the Georgia Theatre Conference. Her work has been performed at high school, collegiate, and international festivals, including the International Fringe Festival in Edinburgh.

"As a parent, I know fine arts can shape a kid in ways the classroom can't," said Superintendent Grant Rivera. "Confidence, discipline, the ability to step up when it counts — those grow on a stage. Eileen has spent her career building those things into young dancers, and we are lucky to have her in Marietta."

The hire reflects the Board's continued investment in fine arts in the district.

Edwards earned her degree in dance education from the University of Georgia, where she was twice selected as a student choreographer for the American College Dance Festival. She trained in Chicago with Joel Hall Dancers, Gus Giordano Dance Chicago, and Hubbard Street, and continues to take master classes in Atlanta and New York.

"Marietta has built a reputation for taking kids seriously across the board — in the classroom, on the court, on the stage," Edwards said. "That's the kind of place where a dance program can go from good to great. I'm excited for the challenge ahead."

Edwards joins Marietta High School for the 2026-27 school year.
