Marietta High School honors graduates during 2024 summer graduation
Nineteen blue and white tassels moved to the left during Marietta High School’s 2024 Summer graduation ceremony on July 29 inside the Marietta Performing Arts Center. This milestone event celebrated the hard work and dedication of students who completed their high school journey during the summer session.
The ceremony started with a warm welcome from Principal Dr. Marvin Crumbs, who acknowledged the student’s unique challenges they faced throughout their journey.
“This is one of the major steps that our students will take in living a fruitful, beautiful life,” said Dr. Crumbs. “The body of work that these students put together is a testament to the fact that they made it because the essence of anything that you start is to finish.”
Superintendent Dr. Grant Rivera followed with an equally inspiring address.
“Our summer graduates exemplify resilience and determination. They have overcome challenges and have shown that perseverance leads to success. We are incredibly proud of their accomplishments,” Dr. Rivera said.
The event was not just a celebration of academic achievement but also a recognition of the supportive community that has helped these students reach this point. Family members, friends, and staff filled the auditorium, cheering and applauding as each student's name was called.
The ceremony also featured MCS board members, including Board Chair Jeff DeJarnett (Ward 1) and Angela Orange (Ward 5), who officiated the diplomas.
