Marietta Sixth Grade Academy receives national ‘School of Distinction’ honor

MARIETTA, GA - Marietta Sixth Grade Academy (MSGA) has been honored as a 2024 Association for Middle Level Education (AMLE) School of Distinction, joining an elite group of just 17 schools nationwide. This prestigious recognition celebrates MSGA’s unwavering commitment to middle-grade education and its dedication to continuous improvement.

"We are honored to be acknowledged among such a distinguished group of schools,” said MSGA Principal Keynun Campbell. “This award is a reflection of the hard work and dedication of our entire school community. At Marietta Sixth Grade Academy, we strive to create an environment where every student is encouraged to think critically, embrace their unique learning journey, and achieve their fullest potential. This recognition strengthens our commitment to nurturing individual growth and cultivating a love for learning that extends beyond the classroom."

The rigorous review process for the AMLE Schools of Distinction program involved a comprehensive examination of how MSGA implements best practices and pursues continuous improvement. The evaluation included interviews with key stakeholders, including staff, students, and families, ensuring a thorough assessment of the school’s educational environment.

The AMLE Schools of Distinction program celebrates exemplary schools that demonstrate a deep commitment to best practices in middle grades education. It supports schools in setting strategic visions for ongoing growth and success. The evaluation process for this recognition is grounded in AMLE’s landmark position paper, The Successful Middle School: This We Believe, which has been a cornerstone of middle grades education for 42 years.

“It is a privilege to recognize such an incredible group of schools, and I’m excited for AMLE to be able to share their stories,” said Stephanie Simpson, AMLE CEO, “AMLE Schools of Distinction proves that middle grades best practice may look different in each school, but it’s possible in every school. Through this program, we are building a network of educators who are committed to the success of young adolescents and are actively learning from and supporting each other.”

MSGA is prominently featured on the AMLE website with a detailed school profile that highlights its exemplary practices. The school’s leadership will also be recognized and will present their innovative practices at AMLE24: The 51st Annual Conference for Middle-Level Education, to be held in November in Nashville, TN.

Families can learn more about the school, explore various activities, and meet the dedicated teachers and staff during the school's Open House Night on Thursday, August 29, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
