Marietta Students Post Highest SAT Average Since 2016 Redesign

MARIETTA, Ga. – Marietta City Schools students' average SAT score rose to 1092, which is the district's highest since the College Board redesigned the test in 2016. The Class of 2026 scored nine points above last year's class and outperformed the Georgia and national public-school averages for the fifth consecutive year. In fact, Marietta's nine-point gain was more than four times Georgia's two-point increase.

According to the College Board, 271 Marietta students took the SAT, 15 more than last year, and scores improved in both sections.

"Marietta City Schools continues to outpace results for the State of Georgia and the United States. The gains in SAT speak to rigor in our schools and the unwavering commitment by every educator," said Superintendent Dr. Grant Rivera. “I remain grateful and proud of the accomplishment of the Class of 2026."

Key highlights:

  • Highest since 2016: Marietta's average total score reached 1092, up nine points from 2025 and 40 points from 2023. That's the third straight year of gains.
  • More students tested: Participation rose from 256 to 271 students.
  • Above public-school averages: Marietta scored 61 points above Georgia's public-school average of 1031 and 81 points above the national public-school average of 1011.
