MCS BOE approves Fall Break adjustment for upcoming school years

Marietta, GA–The Marietta City Schools Board of Education approved a small but meaningful adjustment to the district’s 2026–2027 and 2027–2028 academic calendars during its Tuesday night meeting on June 10. 

The approved change updates the dates for Fall Break in both school years, aligning them with the recently released Cobb County School District calendars. The original MCS calendars, adopted in December 2024, were created using the best available information at the time. However, following Cobb County’s revisions to their fall break schedules, Marietta City Schools has moved swiftly to ensure consistency for families and staff who live and work across both districts.

The updated Fall Break dates are as follows:

• Fall Break 2026: September 21–25, 2026

• Fall Break 2027: September 20–24, 2027
