MCS Names Mandy Wissing as Chief Financial Officer

MCS Names Mandy Wissing as Chief Financial Officer

MARIETTA, Ga. — Marietta City Schools has selected Mandy Wissing, CPA, CGFM, as its next Chief Financial Officer. Wissing brings more than 20 years of public school finance experience to the role, all of it earned in metro Atlanta.

A lifelong Cobb County resident, Wissing spent her entire career at Cobb County School District, rising from Local School Budget Supervisor to Director of Financial Planning and Analysis before serving nearly a decade as Deputy Chief Financial Officer. In that role, she helped oversee finances for one of the largest school districts in the country, managing a budget exceeding $1 billion and
maintaining the district's AAA bond rating.

She succeeds Erin Franklin, who served as MCS Chief Financial Officer for 19 years and whose stewardship helped build the financial foundation the district stands on today.

"Erin Franklin leaves behind something rare — a district with clean books, strong systems, and a community that trusts how its money is managed," said Superintendent Grant Rivera. "Mandy is the right person to carry that forward. She knows this region, she knows school finance, and she knows what it means to be a good steward of resources that belong to kids and families."

Wissing holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting, Magna Cum Laude, from Clemson University and a Master of Business Administration from Kennesaw State University. She is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM). She and her husband, Andrew, live in Kennesaw with their two children, Caitlin and Griffin.

"School finance is about more than dollars — it's about strategy, trust, and making sure every resource we have is working for kids," Wissing said. "In Marietta, you can see exactly where that work lands. That's what brought me here."

Wissing will begin 5/29/26.
