MCS to provide children free meals throughout summer months

MARIETTA, GA – Marietta City Schools (MCS) is offering free summer meals to children as part of the Seamless Summer Option (SSO) program.

From June 3 to July 26, nutritious meals will be available at no cost to all children 18 and under, as well as adults over 18 with a state-defined mental or physical disability. Meals will be delivered at 31 locations across Cobb County. No registration, income, or residency requirements are necessary, making this program an accessible and inclusive solution for families during the summer break.

"Summer should be a time of joy and growth, not a time of worry about where the next meal will come from. The Seamless Summer Option program ensures that our students continue to receive the nutritious meals they need to thrive, even when school is out. It's about more than just food; it's about giving our children the foundation they need for a healthy, successful future."

The Seamless Summer Option (SSO) program is not just a program but a lifeline for many children. This initiative is our collective response to the critical issue of child hunger, which affects more than 1 in 5 children in some areas. Many children rely on school meals for consistent nutrition, and SSO helps bridge the gap during the summer, ensuring they have enough food to lead active, healthy lives.
