Michael Santoro named Chief Operations Officer for MCS
MARIETTA, GA – Marietta City Schools (MCS) is pleased to announce the appointment of Michael Santoro as the new Chief Operations Officer. Mr. Santoro brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record of excellence in educational leadership to his new role.
Michael Santoro joins MCS after serving as principal at Creekview High School in Cherokee County, where he was a finalist for Georgia Principal of the Year. His extensive career includes leadership roles as Principal of Woodstock Middle School, Assistant Principal and Athletic Director at River Ridge High School, and a twenty-year tenure in Fulton County as a teacher, head coach, and athletic director.

As COO, Mr. Santoro will oversee the district’s day-to-day operations, including managing school facilities, transportation, food services, procurement, safety, and security. His role is crucial in supporting the implementation of district policies and strategic initiatives to streamline operations and improve efficiency.

Mr. Santoro earned his bachelor’s degree in education from St. John Fisher College in New York, his master’s in curriculum and instruction from Walden University, and his specialist degree in educational leadership from Berry College. His wife, Stephanie, is an assistant principal in Cobb County, and they have a daughter, Sophia. In his free time, he enjoys family beach trips with their dogs and attending concerts.
He will start on July 1, 2024.
