Marietta City Schools Health Service Team members practice a specialized type of nursing that protects and promotes student health, facilitates optimal development, and advances academic success. School nurses, grounded in ethical and evidence-based practice, are the leaders who bridge health care and education, provide care coordination, advocate for quality student-centered care, and collaborate to design systems that allow individuals and communities to develop their full potential.

Our Mission
The mission of the Marietta City Schools' Health Services Team is to support the health and wellbeing of all students so they are better able to use their creativity and critical thinking while growing as compassionate citizens and life-long learners in a diverse world.
Our Services
Marietta City School nurses:
- Provide first aid care and health assessment
- Write care plans and coordinate the care of students with acute or chronic health conditions
- Communicate with teachers and staff to ensure the safety and well-being of students
- Administer medications and complete nursing procedures as ordered
- Assist in the evaluation of students for Special Services
- Coordinate and provide vision, hearing, and scoliosis screenings
- Assist families in accessing health insurance and health care services
- Educate and train staff on how to respond if students have a medical emergency such as a seizure, low blood glucose, asthma, or severe allergic reaction.
Healthy children are successful learners. The school nurse has a multi-faceted role within the school setting, one that supports the physical, mental, emotional, and social health of students and their success in the learning process.
