Kindergarten Screening
We will be screening kindergarteners for the upcoming school year. Children will be evaluated in a range of developmental tasks from self-care skills, to your child’s ability to communicate and listen. Teachers will also assess your child’s ability to recognize numbers, letters, shapes and colors. The purpose of a kindergarten screening is not to test how much your child knows, so much as to see if your child is developmentally ready to start kindergarten and if a child will need any additional support in the classroom. The screening lasts approximately 20 to 30 minutes and parents will wait in the office while teachers meet with your child.

Click on the highlighted link to see our IB Learner Profile Video of the Month. This video is part of a series we will watch each month called "Be IB!" based on the IB Learner Profiles.
IB Attitude of the Month: CONFIDENCE. A wise person once told me that children are like a bank. The world makes enough withdrawals, so it is our job to fill them with confidence, so those withdrawals will not hurt as much. Confidence leads to success! Get an IB Attitude this month- Confidence!

8/12/15The mission of the Bee Cause Project is to advocate for honeybees to ensure their survival. Bee Cause provides educational assistance to schools to help students become aware of, understand, and appreciate honeybees. As part of these educational assistance activities, Bee Cause assists schools in implementing observational beehives.
Bee Cause is a charitable organization and does not receive compensation for its assistance. Bee Cause will donate the Hive as well as the bees to the School. Upon delivery, the Hive and bees are the property of the School.
At this time, we would like to receive feedback and opinions from our Sawyer Road Parents. If you would simply send us an email indicating:[ ] Yes, I’m in favor of the Bee Cause Project at Sawyer Road Elementary; or[ ] No, I’m not in favor of the Bee Cause Project at Sawyer Road Elementary
If you would like to add any comments, suggestions or concerns, please do so in your email response. Your opinions matter and this is a great way to have a say at SRE.
