Marietta City Schools is proud to announce Elizabeth (Libby) Barnes, an 8th grade student at Marietta Middle School, as District Student of the Month.
Libby is a student who possesses all the qualities of a strong leader. Navigating during the pandemic has been challenging enough, but especially for those students in the fine arts. Libby has persevered and continually went the extra mile to make sure that her classmates were prepared and ready for the spring virtual performance. When faced with a challenge, Libby meets it head-on. She is not afraid to advocate for herself or others. Libby thinks through each moment and offers suggestions if a solution is needed and works diligently to excel in all her academics.
She is a gifted, smart student who takes the initiative and time to work with her peers when they need assistance, or she sees someone struggling. Libby always approaches every situation with the maturity and moral integrity that you typically see in someone much older.
Libby’s teachers describe her as a joy and say that she always has a positive attitude. She participates in dance, volunteers in her community and at A.L. Burruss Elementary, her previous school and where her younger brother, Jack, attends.
We congratulate Libby Barnes for being recognized as the May District Student of the Month!
