Students and Employee of the Month

Student of the Month - Odalis Marcial

Marietta City Schools would like to congratulate Odalis Marcial, 12th grade student at Marietta High School (MHS), as a May District Student of the Month.

 

Odalis is a strong student with high ambitions. Throughout this year, Odalis has maintained a competitive GPA, multiple leadership positions in extracurriculars and clubs, and two jobs. With a dream of being an architect, Odalis earned an architecture internship at Brassfield and Gorrrie, where she has had the opportunity to explore her passion. Next year, Odalis will be attending the University of Georgia, and she will become the first person in her family to attend college.

 

When she isn’t studying, Odalis serves as the vice president of communications for the MHS chapter of the Hispanic Organization Promoting Education (HOPE). She was an integral part of creating the inaugural Hispanic Heritage Month Assembly. Because of her dedication to supporting and celebrating other hisspanic students, Odalis received the HOPE Unity Award and the Character Resilience Award.

Student of the Month - Jocelyn Cruz 

Marietta City Schools would like to congratulate Jocelyn Cruz, 11th grade student at the Marietta Alternative Programs at Marietta High School (MHS), as a May District Student of the Month.

Dedicated to her studies, Jocelyn has worked hard to recover credits and stay on track to graduate. She consistently seeks opportunities to exceed academic goals. Every day in class, Jocelyn shows initiative and focuses on finishing her tasks. She is never shy to ask for clarification on assignments, work with her teachers to understand difficult subjects, and grow her knowledge.

We congratulate Jocelyn on being a May District Student of the Month.

Employee of the Month - Eloisa Gallegos

Marietta City Schools would like to congratulate Eloisa Gallegos, secretary at the Marietta Performance Learning Center (PLC) at Marietta High School’s Woods Wilkins campus, as a May District Employee of the Month.

Eloisa is a thoughtful and caring presence at the PLC. She cares deeply for each student and is always willing to help them however they need it. Eloisa has a powerful gift of being able to connect easily with people, not only because she is bilingual but also because of her kind nature. She will always do everything she can to help students reach theirr fullest potential.

Working as the school secretary, Eloisa takes the time to connect with families and provide them with the help they need. She is an excellent teammate to her coworkers and solves any problem that she faces.

Employee of the Month - Jeff Hopp

Marietta City Schools would like to congratulate Jeff Hop, the Director of Sports Medicine at Marietta High School, as a May District Employee of the Month.

As the director of sports medicine, Jeff supports all the athletes at Marietta High School, both on and off the field. He is always trying to find new and innovative ways to better serve his students. He prioritizes their needs and advocates for their wants. For example, this year, he brought in more athletic trainers, expanded the student athletic program, offered free CPR and Stop the Bleed classes for all district coaches and employees, and coordinated the annual athletic physical night, which served over 500 students.

Because of his knowledge and care, he is well respected by staff and students who always know their well-being is his top priority. He is a proud Blue Devil and is dedicated to serving this district.
