CURTAIN UP! MSGA ACADEMY ACTORS RECEIVE COVETED JUNIOR THEATER FESTIVAL AWARD

The Academy Actors from Marietta Sixth Grade Academy, comprised of 25 student actors and actresses, represented MCS at the Junior Theater Festival last month. During the festival, these talented students won the coveted title of Outstanding Production in the elementary division for their performance of Aladdin Jr.

The Junior Theater Festival is a celebration of theater that brings together actors more than 120 performance groups from 40 different states and 6 different countries around the world.

This was the MSGA Academy Actors’ first Outstanding Production award. Additionally, Emilio Eraydin was named Best Actor for his performance as “Genie”, while Thomas Osorio and Libby Barnes were selected to the all-star cast group.

As one of nine Outstanding Production winners and the only one in the K-6 division, the MSGA Drama students were asked to perform one musical number in front of an audience of 6,500 guests at the festival.

MSGA Drama will present the full production of Aladdin, Jr. on February 8 at 7:00 pm and February 9 at 2:00 pm at the Marietta Performing Arts Center at Marietta High School. The performance is directed by Josh Waters, with music direction by Maya Keiser, and choreography by Katie Pilson. Tootie Berniard is the assistant producer for the show, and Sarah Martin serves as the parent liaison for MSGA Drama.

Congratulations to the Academy Actors from MSGA for their amazing talent and production!
