Coming off an amazing 9-1 season, Marietta Middle School's 8th Grade football team is headed to the Georgia Middle School Athletic Association (GMSAA)  State Championship against McEachern.

Full of excitement, the team is focused and ready to play.

“I’m just ready,” Said Eqwan McCrea “This is what we’ve been working for since the beginning.”

2-time defending champs, McEachern was the team’s only loss for the season. Head Coach, Derrick Hall said it’s going to be a tough battle, however, they are up for the challenge.

“My confidence is at an all-time high because I trust my boys, they work extremely hard and I have confidence in their ability,” said Hall.

A few players to look out for during Saturday’s game include key running back Milon Jones, top pass defender Devion Hall, defensive end Eqwan McCrea, and dual-threat quarterback Tyler Hughes.

“The team would like to send a special thank you to Marietta High School Head Coach Richard Morgan and staff along with our own Marietta Middle School coaches: Fred Alexander, Milon Jones, Brandon Nicholson, Melvin Alexander and team parent liaisons Diana Hughes and Elizabeth Eskildsen, said Coach Hall.

“I also want to send a special thank you to the Marietta Middle School administrators, teachers and staff for all of their support. It is them that motivates us to be great and push forward.”

The game will be played at Milton High School on Saturday, November 11th at 8:00 PM.

The team’s motto ‘One Family, All In, All the Time’.

Be sure to go out and support!
