No Kid Hungry Georgia: MCS School Nutrition "School Meal Heroes"
No Kid Hungry Georgia is honoring the Marietta City Schools Department of School Nutrition for their commitment to ensuring all students have the nutrition they need. Share Our Strength, a nonprofit working to solve hunger and poverty in the United States, launched the No Kid Hungry national campaign in 2010. No Kid Hungry Georgia is celebrating school nutrition staffs around the state for all they do and have done to end childhood hunger.
MCS School Nutrition Director, Cindy Culver, and her staff make and distribute meals to thousands of children each day. When our schools were closed during the pandemic, they helped deliver food to students at 81 stops across 18 bus routes. This summer and in previous summers, they have distributed meals through more than 60 locations in the Marietta area so all children under the age of 18 have daily access to nourishing food. They work tirelessly all year and are true heroes.
