Dunleith Elementary Awarded By State

2017 High-Progress School

Georgia Department of Education 2017 List of Reward Schools

Marietta, GA – The Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE) names Dunleith Elementary School as a 2017 Title I Reward School. Dunleith received this distinction in the category of High-Progress Schools for being among 10 percent of the state’s Title I schools making the most progress in improving the performance of the “all students” group over three years on statewide assessments.

“I am proud of the teachers at Dunleith and the work they do every day,” said Dunleith Elementary Principal Dr. Nikea Hurt. “This recognition reflects the dedication of our commitment to ensure we provide students with rich and meaningful experiences on a daily basis.”

The GaDOE names Reward Schools as a part of the state’s waiver from the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), which allowed the state’s Title Programs Division to move from the ESEA’s Distinguished School Awards Program to the Reward School Program. Title I schools are identified as Priority Schools, Focus Schools, Alert Schools, or Reward Schools. Those selected as High-Progress Schools cannot be identified as a Priority or Focus School.
