MHS & MMS Technology Student Association Chapters Place in State Competition, Mar. 9

2017 Technology Student Association State Leadership Conference and Competition MHS and MMS Technology Student Association (TSA) Chapters had great success as both teams participated in the 2017 Technology Student Association State Leadership Conference and Competition in Athens, GA. Approximately 2,600 middle and high school students convened to compete in various STEM and leadership competition events.
 
MHS teams included:
3rd place - Elizabeth Lopez (Computer-Aided Design-Architecture) 6th place - Marcos Rios (Essays on Technology)
10th place - Jalen Collins, Alex Dube, & Thomas Verstraete (Music Production); Jean-Luc Fuentes (STEM Careers); Kirsten Clower (Computer-Aided Design-Engineering); Isaiah Torres & Kruin Utschig (Engineering Design); Marcos Rios (Extemporaneous Speech); and Elizabeth Lopez & Kirsten Clower (Technology/Problem Solving).

The MMS TSA Chapter placed in the top 10 TSA Chapters in the state, finishing in 10th place.

1st place - Egon Donley, Manikantan Suresh, & Mateo Rios (Tech Bowl)
2nd place - Egon Donley (Written Test-Tech Bowl)
3rd place - Mateo Rios (Written Test-Tech Bowl)
1st place - Allison Dawson & Bridgette Allen (Challenging Technology Issues)
1st place Allison Dawson, Egon Donley, & Laila Lavelanet (Website Design)
2nd place - Manikantan Suresh & David Romero (Biotechnology)
2nd place - Allison Hidalgo, Leila Simmons-Bradley, & Laila Lavelanet (Leadership Strategies)
2nd place - Bridgette Allen (Essays on Technology); 4th place Manikantan Suresh & David Romero (Technical Design), Mary Herman & Laila Lavelanet (Forensic Technology)
8th place - Leila Simmons-Bradley (Prepared Speech), David Romero & Akinni James (Video Game Design); David Romero & Akinni James (Junior Solar Sprint)
7th place 8th place - Leila Simmons-Bradley & Allison Dawson (Problem Solving); Mary Herman & Allison Hidalgo (Structura; Engineering).

Congratulations to all of the students who worked very hard to compete at the state level and to bring home several wins! Co-Advisors include Mr. Grant and Mr. Ware (MHS) and Mrs. Grant and Dr. Khan (MMS).
