MMS students win big at Georgia Theater Conference
Marietta City Schools would like to congratulate the cast and crew of the Marietta Middle School (MMS) production of “Shuddersome: Tales of Poe” on their multiple wins at the 2022 Georgia Theatre Conference. Their successes include overall best play, best actress (Katie Minihan), best-supporting actor (Kendall McQueen), and all-star cast members (Katelyn “Cam” Davis and Virginia “Rhodes” Patrick). The cast of over 30 students performed the show over the weekend of October 6th and competed October 14-15th. The show features vivid and theatrical adaptions of some of Edgar Allan Poe’s most significant works and was directed by MMS Theatre director Haley Walter.
Each year the Georgia Theatre Conference holds the Middle School Festival as an opportunity for middle school theatre groups to showcase their student’s abilities and compete against other schools in the state of Georgia. Throughout the conference, students have the ability to gain feedback on their performances and meet other students across the state who share their love for theatre.
