MARIETTA, GA – The City of Marietta announced a partnership with Habitat for Humanity of NW Metro Atlanta, HNWMA, to provide six zero-interest affordable homes for city and Marietta City Schools (MCS) employees to be built over the next year in the City of Marietta.

“As a district, we pride ourselves on working hard to find every opportunity to support each of our staff at work and at home,” said Superintendent Grant Rivera, “We are so grateful to Mayor Tumlin and the City of Marietta for including our hard-working MCS employees in these initiatives to make homeownership a reality for more of our community.”

Called the “Marietta Public Service Housing Program,” the City of Marietta is donating six lots, and HNWMA will provide volunteers to build six one and two-story homes. The construction of the homes is being funded through the federal American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), signed into law in March 2021.

The application process for these homes will open on February 6.

In conjunction with this program, the City also will be including MCS employees in a down-payment assistance program, which will provide up to $10,000 in funding per family for home purchases made within the Marietta city limits. Information on this down-payment initiative will be forthcoming.
